  • Gina Carano Starring in Hunter Biden Movie: “My Son Hunter”

Gina Carano Starring in Hunter Biden Movie: “My Son Hunter”

Just because they canceled her doesn’t mean she won’t get work. Gina Carano is back and is now starring in a movie about the Hunter Biden laptop conspiracy because of course she is. After starring in The Daily Wire’s Terror on the Prairie, Carano is back but with Breitbart now.

The movie toes the line with the sitting President Joe Biden being in the crosshairs. The movie aims to tell a story about the infamous Hunter Biden laptop story in the 2016 election. Gina Carano will be playing a Secret Service agent and, from the looks of the trailer she will be narrating the movie. Laurence Fox will be playing Hunter Biden and John James will play President Joe Biden.

The director for My Son Hunter is Robert Davi. He’s had acting gigs in Die Hard, The Goonies, Licence to Kill and The Expendables 3. The only directorial credits to his name are Magic The Talking Dog in 2010, which got a 3.6 rating on IMDb, and The Dukes in 2007, 5.9 on IMDb.

    My Son Hunter: Too Edgy?

Some would question making a movie about the son of a sitting President portraying the family as corrupt politicians. There was much rage from the right when Kathy Griffin held up the severed head of a mock Donald Trump. This movie, while not that extreme, is pushing the boundaries and leans into the realm of political propaganda going into the midterm elections. But it’s likely that the only ones who will see the movie will only be voting against President Joe Biden already.

My Son Hunter has the potential to be entertaining at least. Partying, drugs, and back door deals are usually fun in a movie. And we saw with Terror on the Prairie that right wing news outlets can make decent movies if they stay true to what they are trying to accomplish.

The movie comes out on September 7th on Breitbart and you can purchase it at MySonHunter.com and you can nab it for around $22.

  • “Mike” on Hulu Episode 1 & 2 Review: Close But No Cigar

“Mike” on Hulu Episode 1 & 2 Review: Close But No Cigar

Mike on Hulu dropped its first two episodes yesterday and dives into the life of Mike Tyson, the larger than life heavyweight champion from the 1990’s. Earlier in the month, Tyson spoke out against the series saying that they stole his life story and that he’d not been paid for his image and likeness. But, the first two episodes are here and now we are reviewing them so you can know what to expect should you go in to watch the series.

SPOILER ALERT: mild spoilers ahead, reader beware

    What ‘Mike’ Got Right

‘Mike’ is a very interesting concept for Hulu to put out. If Mike Tyson is to be believed, they did not consult with him on the series. But the series first two episodes really nailed some aspects of the heavyweight champion.

First thing is first, the writers and lead actor, Trevante Rhodes, nailed the bashfulness of Mike Tyson. As vicious as he is, Mike Tyson always suffered from imposter syndrome growing up because of his upbringing. The show will pull at your heart strings when Tyson is staring at a bouquet of roses because he’s never seen them in real life. How could a young kid be brought up and never have seen roses in his 13 years of life.

The show also does a great job of showing you just how desolate Mike Tyson’s childhood was. He was relentlessly bullied and his confidence suffers for it. How can a human being suffer so much in The United States of America.

Lastly, the boxing scenes are a masterpiece. Rhodes has the perfect physique that shows just how monstrous Tyson was as a man. At first I thought Rhodes didn’t put in the time boxing because his punching technique was poor. His elbows flared out and looked ugly. But then it dawned upon on me that Rhodes was doing this on purpose. As a fan of boxing this meant a lot. He showed fantastically how an amateur boxer holds their hands, how they move around, how they punch incorrectly. As the first two episodes went on, I could see Tyson, under the tutelage of Cus D’Amato, became the peek-a-book boxer we know Tyson to become. Rhodes, once again, embodies that. He punches well, actually. I can tell that Hulu put a bunch of time into developing the choreography for the series as well as Rhodes putting in the reps at the gym learning to box.

    Where things get rough

Controversy aside, there are some things that hold ‘Mike’ back from being a very good show. First thing first is Rhodes portrayal of Mike Tyson outside of the boxing ring. Instead of being an actor who seems to actually be Mike Tyson, Rhodes comes off as someone who is impersonating Mike Tyson. His mannerisms, the accent, all of it seem to be forced by Rhodes.

Cus D’Amato is my next issue with the first two episodes of ‘Mike.’ Harvey Keitel does a good job at playing a believable D’Amato. He’s old, ornery, and loves boxing. My issue comes in with the relationship between D’Amato and Tyson that is shown on screen. D’Amato was a major part of Tyson’s life in real life. The writers of the show attempt to show us the father-son dynamic between the two but completely falls flat. The relationship was very rushed and the writers/directors didn’t give it enough time to flesh out on screen. D’Amato dies and we see Mike Tyson sad but we don’t necessarily feel it. The audience outside of those who have followed Tyson all his career will not get just how much the death of Cus D’Amato destroyed Mike Tyson.

Lastly, the story itself seems very put together. But I don’t mean that in a good way. The first two episodes gave me the sense that the writers listened to hours of Mike Tyson interviews and pieced together a story based off the interviews. But I guess that’s to be expected when they didn’t actually consult Mike Tyson.

Good news is we won’t have to wait until Mike Tyson boxes again to see the next episode next week. With a lackluster start to the series, one can only hope it goes up from here. It’ll be a long ride and a bunch of negative reviews if not. Don’t forget to tune in next Friday for our review of episode 3 of Mike!

Road House Remake: First look and new actors

The Road House remake had some more tidbits drop about it as the movie started production earlier in the week. The remake of the Jake Gyllenhaal-led movie has tapped four new names to the cast. According to Deadline, Darren Barnet, JD Pardo, Joaquim de Almeida and Kevin Carroll have all joined the movie.

In addition to that, Gyllenhaal has shared a picture on his Instagram following the first day of shooting!

    Road House Remake Taking Shape

The remake of Road House is taking shape. The 80’s movie cult classic is held in high regards and the new crew is trying to do the movie justice with a modern twist. Earlier in the month it was announced that UFC superstar Conor McGregor is going to also be starring alongside Gyllenhaal in the upcoming movie.

Darren Barnet is playing a character known only as “Sam” right now and has starred in Never Have I Ever, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules. JD Pardo has been in The Twilight Saga and Revolution. Joaquim de Almeida is playing “Sheriff Black.” You’ll recognize him from Fast Five and Behind Enemy Lines. Finally, Kevin Carroll rounds out the new announced fighters having starred in Blindspotting and Paid In Full.

  • Netflix Green Lights New Tyson Fury Documentary

Netflix Green Lights New Tyson Fury Documentary

Long live The Gypsy King! Announced today, Netflix is developing a multi-part documentary on the lineal and the WBC champion Tyson Fury.

    Netflix and Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury is the biggest name in heavyweight boxing today. The loud and boisterous champion has a fantastic life story full of highs and lows. Netflix is teaming up with Fury to bring his life story to the “big” screen. The working title for Netflix is “At Home With The Furys” which almost has a reality television sound to it.

In addition to Tyson Fury starring in the documentary, his father John, his wife Paris and their six kids are going to be a part of the documentary. The documentary looks to give us a in depth look at Fury’s life. It is not said if his brother, Tommy Fury, will be in the show. Tommy Fury was linked to a couple fights with Jake Paul.

Fury is coming off of a spectacular win over Dillian Whyte in April of this year. That fight was a huge homecoming for Fury after his comeback and was a massive success. Fury retired after his comeback from a binge of drugs and depression after beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

    Mental Health and The Comeback

Tyson Fury is not shy to tell his story and talk about his struggles with depression. After becoming heavyweight champion of the world, Fury stepped away from boxing, ballooned up to over 400 pounds, binged on drugs and alcohol, and almost took his life by driving off a bridge in his Lamborghini.

Fury went on The Joe Rogan Experience and talked about his story and also published several books about his struggle.

Despite all his accomplishments in the ring, Fury’s story with his mental health is the most inspiring thing about the boxing icon. The documentary is bound to be fantastic and display all the emotions that come with the Fury family.

  • Netflix drops new Cobra Kai trailer ahead of season 5 release

Netflix drops new Cobra Kai trailer ahead of season 5 release

QUIET! Cobra Kai has dropped a new trailer today in advance of next month’s season 5. Season five comes out on September 9th only on Netflix. Check it out below:

Cobra Kai Season 5: Terry Silver’a Reign of Terror

Picking up right where season 4 left off, Cobra Kai season 5 is showing the aftermath of the fourth season. Terry Silver cheated his way to win the All-Valley and now Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are left picking up the pieces.

In the trailer we get a look at Alicia Hannah-Kim’s new character: Kim Da-Eun, a Korean sensei new to Cobra Kai. Unfortunately for fans, Mike Barnes, who was announced to be joining the show last week, was not shown. The Karate Bad Boy will be back, however and fans will be rabid to see him in action.

Chozen was briefly shown in the trailer after the season 4 stinger. He made his return to the Miyagiverse in season 2 of Cobra Kai.

There will be drama, cool karate fights, and much more in season five of Cobra Kai and the trailer also showed some of that with Miguel and Robby going at it despite being on the same team.

Not shown in the trailer was Miguel’s trip to Mexico to find his real father not what’s on Tory’s mind after finding out Terry Silver paid off the referee in her All-Valley tournament victory. But we can’t have our cake and eat it too so we will likely have to wait until the next trailer or when the season drops on Netflix.

Don’t miss all the high flying karate action as Cobra Kai finally returns on September 9th. Let’s see how Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen deal with the new threat of Terry Silver back in action in The Valley. Thanks for reading!

  • Terror on the Prairie: A Surprisingly Fun Western

Terror on the Prairie: A Surprisingly Fun Western

As I dreadfully put my credit card information into The Daily Wire, I wondered just how bad Terror on the Prairie would be. I’m not a fan of news sites and giving them money made me somewhat sick. But I did it. I was pleasantly surprised. The movie was “the return of the cancelled Gina Carano” and Donald Cerrone’s acting debut. Terror on the Prairie was a fun movie for those who like westerns. For those who don’t it’s still a watchable movie!

Terror on the Prairie: The Good

Gina Carano is a pretty stale actor. She’s new and while she did well in The Mandalorian, her other work has been sub par. In Terror on the Prairie, Gina Carano did quite well acting. She’s been working on her acting and it’s very apparent.

This role for Carano is very much something within her wheelhouse as well. The movie was obviously made for Carano and it paid off. Terror on the Prairie was your textbook western and stayed true to what it was wanting to be. It brings back the western style movie and does itself justice.

Cowboy Cerrone was also the co-star in this movie and was his acting debut. His role in this was pretty small and Carano was the star of the movie. But for what he did have to do, Cowboy wasn’t half bad. He was a bit stiff, but as a newcomer to acting, he got his feet wet and that’s half the battle.

The story wasn’t special but was executed pretty efficiently. I felt like Carano’s character was in danger and having Cerrone away and the kid home upped the ante even more for me.

    The Bad: Ankle Deep

As I said above, the story of Terror on the Prairie was nothing special. That’s part of what makes it bad. I like a movie with plot twists and something that I can’t see coming a mile away. Terror on the Prairie wasn’t that. We all knew Gina Carano was going to get out victorious and the baddies would bite the dust.

Bullets bothered me as well in this movie. How did Carano, Cerrone and supporting actors all have so much ammunition? The directors tried to make it look like they were preserving ammo but the amount of bullets shot took me out the movie a bit and made it a little less unbelievable.

The Ugly (See what I did there?)

The worst part about Terror on the Prairie was having to stomach giving The Daily Wire money. I don’t like politics at all and think that the politicization of the United States is responsible for so much hurt in the country. I feel that both right wing and left wing outlets are responsible for this together. They’re two sides of the same coin. Having to give them money was against my normal code and it took me a while to decide if I wanted to review this movie or not.

According to IMDb, it will be released in the Netherlands on DVD and BluRay. Maybe you can snag a copy that way if you don’t want to sign up to The Daily Wire at all.

Overall, I enjoyed Terror on the Prairie way more than I thought I would. It’s an old school western with modern cameras. Westerns don’t have to be bullet proof (another pun, I’m on a roll today). What westerns have to do is make a movie that has good guys, bad guys, and some killing. That’s all and that’s what Terror on the Prairie does. While I do like a slightly deeper story, I recognize that fact.

Terror on the Prairie gets a 5.5 from me out of ten. As usual, I want to remind you that my 10 point system is a true 10 point system. Bad movies are a 1. Great movies are a 10. Average is right in the middle. And that’s how I see Terror on the Prairie: average. And being average is okay!

  • ‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ To Be Released March 8, 2024

‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ To Be Released March 8, 2024

Everyone’s favorite panda is back in action! Kung Fu Panda 4 has just received it’s release date: March 8, 2024. The announcement was made by Universal Pictures this Friday.

The film will feature Po, the Kung Fu “Dragon Warrior” who is voiced by Jack Black. Other actors in the first three installments included Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, and many more. It’s not clear if all of these will return from the original trilogy, but one could assume that some familiar names will return alongside Black.

Kung Fu Panda: The Plan Ahead

With the announcement of Kung Fu Panda 4, we enter what the directors described as the “master trilogy.” While the first three movies showed Po becoming a Kung Fu fighter, these next three can be assumed to show how he’s now the master and will likely have a young student that he has to teach.

The original Kung Fu Panda came out in 2008 and was received quite well. It spawned many sequels and other spinoffs. In addition to the 4 installments in film, there are 4 short films, three animated series, and a Christmas special.

Kung Fu Panda 4 is the first chapter in the second trilogy. Directors have said they “only” planned two trilogies. That seems a given now that the franchise has grossed an estimated $1.8 billion since 2008. If Kung Fu Panda 4 is as close to as good as it’s three predecessors, it will undoubtedly be a success as well. With the opportunity for more spinoffs, there’s even more potential with the franchise.

There wasn’t any other real news announced by Universal aside from the new release date.

Stay posted to Double Hammerfist for all the latest news surrounding Kung Fu Panda 4 and other martial arts movies! Thanks for reading!

  • The Karate Bad Boy Is Back! Mike Barnes To Be Part of Cobra Kai Season 5

The Karate Bad Boy Is Back! Mike Barnes To Be Part of Cobra Kai Season 5

Cobra Kai season 5 just got a bit more extreme. Announced earlier today, Sean Kanan will reprise his role from The Karate Kid Part III as the infamous Karate Bad Boy, Mike Barnes. Kanan announced it on his Twitter account today. He joins his old sensei, Terry Silver, who joined the series in Cobra Kai season 4.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Shaping Up

Cobra Kai season 5 debuts on September 9th and with today’s announcements we are getting a look at what could go on for the fifth season of the hit Netflix series. With Mike Barnes returning, Terry Silver, played by Ian Thomas Griffin, and Miyagi-do/Eagle Fang will go head to head with each other.

Much like The Karate Kid Part III, Mike Barnes will likely be brought in to spice things up for Terry Silver and company. He notoriously beat Daniel LaRusso to a pulp in the All-Valley for a 50% stake in the Cobra Kai dojo franchise.

In addition to Kanan returning, Alicia Hannah-Kim will join the cast as Kim Da-Eun, a South Korean sensei. Hannah-Kim will be joining Silver’s Cobra Kai dojo to up the ante in Cobra Kai season 5.

At the end of season four, we saw that Tory Nichols win the All Valley Tournament but it was Terry Silver who paid the referee off to get the win. We also saw Daniel LaRusso reach out to Chozen to help with the upcoming war and Johnny Lawrence and Robby, his son, reunite.

Cobra Kai season 5 will be bingable on September 9th on Netflix. Don’t miss the return to the Karate Kid universe with fan favorites like Johnny Lawrence, Daniel LaRusso, Sam LaRusso, Miguel Diaz and more! Check back with Double Hammerfist to get your season review when it does drop. Thanks for reading.

  • Mike Tyson: “Hulu stole my story.”

Mike Tyson: “Hulu stole my story.”

The upcoming series, Mike, debuts on Hulu and it’s titular character, Mike Tyson, isn’t happy about the upcoming adaptation of his likeness. On Saturday, he unloaded a tirade of criticism of the show and Hulu accusing them of stealing his life rights. Check out the tweets below:

    Mike Tyson vs. Hulu

As you can see, Mike Tyson is not happy with the upcoming series. Mike aims to show the boxer’s life and show the infamous career of Tyson that was full of controversy. But according to Tyson, he was not paid for his story or likeness for the mini-series.

Tyson said on social media that Hulu executives contacted friends and known associates of Tyson for Mike and were misled. Mauricio Salaiman, the president of the World Boxing Commission, said they were told that Tyson was involved. As we’ve come to find out, he was not.

Other names have come to Mike Tyson’s side including the UFC’s Nate Diaz and Dana White, as seen in the tweets above.

    Mike out on August 25th

Mike comes out on Hulu as an six episode series on August 25th. It is sure to cause controversy with the noise being made by Mike Tyson on social media about his lack of involvement. Perhaps there will even be boycotts of the show as well, although Tyson hasn’t called for that yet.

Mike features Trevante Rhodes as the titular character. You’ll have seen Rhodes in Moonlight, The Predator and Bird Box. Other popular names in the series include Harvey Keitel as Cus D’Amato, Russell Hornsby as Don King, Ethan Dubin as Teddy Atlas, Laura Harrier as Robin Givens, and many many more names that will pop up as the series goes through Tyson’s career.

Watching it or not will be up to you. Tyson has not called for a boycott. But the series is going to be a hot topic among his fans for some time. Keep in mind there is still going to be another Tyson series featuring Jamie Foxx as Tyson and will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Martin Scorsese that is still in development.

  • Conor McGregor cast in “Road House” remake alongside Jake Gyllenhaal

Conor McGregor cast in “Road House” remake alongside Jake Gyllenhaal

UFC megastar Conor McGregor is taking on the film industry. Announced today by his spokesperson, Karen Kessler, McGregor has been cast alongside Oscar nominated Jake Gyllenhaal for the upcoming Road House remake that will release on Amazon Prime. The original movie came out in 1989 and a remake of the film has been in the works for some time.

The movie will feature Jake Gyllenhaal taking on the role originally portrayed by Patrick Swayze. Gyllenhaal will be an ex UFC fighter who works at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. The production will begin this month in the Dominican Republic and will be a worldwide release.

As for Conor McGregor’s role in the movie, it’s said he will have a major part in Road House. He will not be a cameo of himself in the fight and will be an original character. Other names attached to the film are Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchoir, Gbemmisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, BK Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.

The film will be written by Anthony Bagarozzi, Nick Cassavetes, and Chuck Mondry.

    The Road to Road House

Road House has been a target of Hollywood as a prime candidate for a remake. With the 90’s generation so nostalgic, a movie from that era seemingly always has legs. Just ask Top Gun: Maverick which took the cinemas by storm this summer.

In 2015, at the height of her fame, UFC champion Ronda Rousey was attached to the remake of Road House before losing to Holly Holm by a spectacular knockout. That film was also to be written by Nick Cassavetes as well. Rousey then took time off and after losing her comeback she took her talents to WWE and professional wrestling.

Conor McGregor has had his eyes on Hollywood for some time saying that he’d planned on making a jump to Hollywood after he was done fighting. After breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, he’s planning a comeback. Will it be the last fight that we see Conor McGregor in before he retires for good?
